Parli Talks and Schedule

August 14 Talks

Intro to Parli Debate - Parli Debate is Advanced Debate. This is why students should have either 2 years of debate experience or have reached the age of 16. It requires that you understand good argumentation as well as very good critical thinking skills. This session will cover the three main types of resolutions (Policy, Value, Fact), and how to structure your cases.

Resolution Analysis - In depth, and timely analysis of the Resolution is essential to developing your case as well as refuting your opponent. This talk will take you through seven steps of analysis which will set you up for argument development, comparisons and clashes. These concepts will be practiced for each Resolution Type.

Argumentation - Strong arguments are what wins debate rounds. Having a well structured and logical argument makes it harder to refute. And being able to pick apart an argument makes refutation more effective. This talk will cover both.

Stakeholder PERMS and Why Chains - Many debaters have difficulty digging deeper into their own case as well as their opponent's to find strengths and weaknesses. Using these tools will go a long way to assist in the digging. It will apply to all aspects of research, and the debate round.
